Port Deposit Firefighters Graduate From Basic Fire Training Course in 1952

Posted on February 12, 2013June 9, 2026 by admin

In June 1952, ten Port Deposit firefighters, members of the Water Witch Fire Company, completed a 60-hour basic firefighting course. It was provided by the University of Maryland Fire Extension Service.  As county growth soared in those post-World War II years, they made sure they were fully trained to serve the community.  This is a Cecil Democrat photo.

Here’s a link to the Water Witch Fire Company’s webpage, which has more information about the company’s history.
